Internet Marketing contd.
Marketing on the Internet
If you plan to incorporate Internet Marketing with traditional marketing methods, it is important that a high degree of consistency between each is retained. Your brand's values are as important on the Internet as they are within everything else your business portrays. (see:marketing mix) All too often, company brand looses credibility when marketing on the internet.
Whether you are combining traditional and new media forms of marketing, or simply have opted for Internet marketing on a small budget, ensuring your customers can locate your website is, of course, crucial.

Search Engine Optimisation

Think for a moment about how you (either individually or as a business) seek out a product or a service. Statistics show that more than 80% of us rely on Search Engines to find what they are looking for - and the phrase or keywords they search under are pertinent to their knowledge of that product or service which can be minimal and varied.
The position of your website can be improved by incorporating specific Keywords which are likely to match those searched by a user. This requires picking the right Keywords and phrases (not always obvious ones) and placing them strategically. (I.e the words marketing and advertising as a heading have higher value when someone searches for 'advertising campaign' than if it features in the main text.)
Another factor in Search Engine Optimisation also is Google Page Rank. This is a number allocated to websites by Google to indicate their critique opinion of them. Page Rank can be improved by increasing the number of, and quality of, sites linking to it. Regularly updating information (refreshing content) within a website also helps too.
